• Claire showcases another collection of map tattoos.
• Indiana Jones and the Fonts on the Maps: Mark Simonson notes that the maps used in the Indiana Jones movies are anachronistic.
• Presenting the annoying (and quite likely offensive) Sat Nag: “Press the button on the front and a very well-recorded, patronising woman’s voice will come out with one of a host of hysterical Sat Nav-type commands.” Oh dear. Via Gizmodo.
• Modern Mechanix: Blind Get Fair Map Printed in Braille, from the October 1939 issue of Popular Science.
• Boing Boing has a hand-drawn 1955 map of New Jersey’s prisons.

• Google Maps live video mashup, Seero have created a GPX uploader to let you upload pre-recorded videos plus a GPX track to sync them both together on a map. More details are in this Seero Blog post!

The prolific Virender Ajmani from the Mibazaar blog has produced two Google Maps showing the life journeys of Barack Obama and John McCain from birth to … well probably the White House for one of them.

• Barack Obama’s Journey to the White House
• John McCain’s Journey to the White House

Both maps can be set to autoplay or manual. When set on autoplay the map automatically animates from one stage of a candidate’s biography on the map to the next. Both Obama and McCain are better travelled than many past presidential candidates so this geographical biography of the candidates works very well.

Both life journeys are also available as Google Gadgets. Download the gadgets to your iGoogle page here:
