Notre Dame de Reims - A Jumping off point for Explore

I was just sent this beautiful view of Notre Dame de Reims which was highlighted at Virtual Globetrotting imagethe other day. After rotating around and exploring the building visually I was curious to find out more about it. Whenever you are looking at something in Live Maps the easiest way to learn more about it is to turn on Explore mode; go to the Collections Menu and choose Explore as shown to the right. This will overlay a blanket of information contributed by other users at our site and across the web. You can page through items 25 at a time if there are a lot in view and you can sort them by distance, quality, or when they were created.

Here are a few examples - This link turns on Explore at the Cathedral in Reims. And this one Explores around the parliament buildings in Ottawa. And of course when you know what you are looking for, you can search this library of user contributed content by keyword. Just enter your search terms and click the ‘Collections’ button below the search field, then hit the search button. Here is a search for ‘Embassy in Belgrade’

We’re working on some great enhancements for our Explore in the next release that you’ll really like if you are already using this capability today. look forward to more content, better dupe detection and a couple of new enhancements to make surfing the geoweb a lot more fun.
